Have a Drink on Me

The last two weeks of school are crazy busy - I've said that before, I know.  After completing the craziness of preparing for what we call Move-Up Day, I would have liked to celebrate with some of my colleagues, but since I don't drink I teased that I would just go home and eat chocolate and get fat(ter).    No chocolate in the house, but I did have these candies and a stamp that I thought would fit a little project I had in mind to share with them.

The beverage stamp comes from the set Slice of Life, which I stamped in Basic Gray ink and colored with my SU markers, using pearl shimmer paint for the whipped cream.  The sentiment I stamped with my Just-Rite stamper.  I recently purchased a Martha Stewart stamp set that you could make phrases with only because I had a coupon and was that a mistake.  If you need to create a sentiment of your own and don't want to rely on a printer, check out the Just-Rite stamps (I can't link it here).  The background on the die cut box is a stamp from Sweet Summer just stamped in VersaMark ink on the Pear Pizzazz box.  The scalloped border is in Peach Parfait.

Inside the box are various drink flavored candies and mixes.  The round ones are rootbeer flavored.  So you can see, they did have more than one drink on me!

Home Sweet New Home

A teacher that I work with and her husband just closed on their first home.  Their moving in weekend proved to be very memorable that involved bad bruising, trips to the emergency room, and a broken ankle.  They're young - they'll get over it, and they'll also remember it!

Here's a card I made for them to congratulate them and wish them no more trips to the emergency room.

Last year's SAB set Good Neighbor provided the little house that I used my markers on.  The background paper was from the SAB paper pack.

I used my Just-Rite stamper for the lettering and Nestabilities for the ovals.  These colors - Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, and Old Olive will hopefully brighten this dreary winter we've been having.

I was going to make my Valentine Marshmallows today, but that will have to wait as it is raining and too damp.  At least it's not snow or ice!  Speaking of - these frosty flakes were on my car window frame yesterday.

The flakes were all over the black parts of the car - the window frames and side-view mirrors.

World Cardmaking Day

Saturday was World Cardmaking Day and I decided to play along with some challenges.  The first was the Hope You Can Cling to challenge to turn a holiday pink.  I thought the little witch from Fang-tastic would look cute in pink.  What do you think?

Next I decided to try another one of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges - Bring in the Brown.  The challenge was to use pink and brown.  I used my new Just Believe set with Regal Rose and Chocolate Chip.

And finally, I tried the Inspiration Challenge for today.  The website inspiration was Studio Nommo and you'll find my inspiration here.

My new Amuse Artic Fox is traveling through SU's Tree's Three with a sentiment from Cute by the Inch.  The DSP is Autumn Spice and I used the new color Cajun Craze in this.

My cold is finally breaking up and my tooth is settling down - I think mostly because of the antibiotic and ibuprofen I've been taking.new toys  We hit the Kirkside Garage sale early this morning and then ran some errands.  I'm sorry I procrastinated most of the early afternoon after we got back because I really had fun putting these cards together.

Featured Stamper - Pat Smethers

One of our very own Teapotters has been chosen as the Featured Stamper today on Splitcoast - Pat Smethers.  She was chosen by our fearless Teapot Queen Cindy Motherway and you just have to read the tribute and poem she wrote - here is the link.  And here is a link to Pat's gallery

The rules for the Featured Stamper Challenge are to pick a card from the stamper's gallery and change at least two things about it.   I visited Pat's Critter File and chose this one - Sweet Friend.

I've always admired her cowboy cards but I also love all her Gruffies and House Mouse cards.  They're all so sweet it was hard to choose from.  I just happened to recently purchase my first House Mouse stamp called Fragrant Friendship (I always make a serious dent in my wallet when I visit One Little Spark in Tuckerton!).

I made a few changes - I changed the image, the colors and flipped the little cut out with the ribbon to the other side as it fit better that way with the image.  I haven't added a sentiment yet, but when I do it will go on the lower left portion of the yellow panel right below the image.

So I say - Great choice today Cindy and Congratulations Pat!  Your gallery is such an inspiration!

Contraband

Well here's the dish. I had an AC Moore 40% off coupon last week and on Saturday HWNSNBP was going in that direction to price something and asked if I wanted to come along. If I didn't have the coupon I would have stayed home, but that wasn't the case. He dropped me off at AC Moore and went about doing his errand.

So what do you do when you walk all around the store and you don't find anything to spend your 40% coupon on? I bet most people would walk out empty handed, but not me. I headed on back to the stamp section which I had only casually looked through before and started an honest to goodness search for something different. Yes, it had to be different than the about 20 million other stamps that I already have.

I've always liked pandas and I knew I did not have a stamp of one. So I made my little purchase and I didn't even need a bag for it!

With all the stamps that I already have that I haven't used yet I still was itching to use this one. I inked it in Black Stazon and stamped it onto Whisper White cs. I used markers and my aquapainter to color the image. This took a while, but it was very therapeutic at the same time.

SU's Embrace Life set supplied the bamboo which I stamped in black on the Crushed Curry and in VersaMark on the Dusty Durango. I colored the leaves with a green marker on the Crushed Curry piece. The three balls are from the Circle Circus set and they're popped up on dimensionals.

Now I've got to start inking up more of those other 20 million stamps!
