Inktober 2017 - Days 22-28

These first three were inspired by our dogwood tree and I still didn't get it right.  The colors are so intense much like what I see.  But the shape of the tree is wrong.  The branches are more layered  horizontally.   I didn't like seeing them in the first attempt, eliminated them from the second, and the third was just a concentration of the colors of the leaves and what was around it.

This combined the theme from Scribble Picnic - BOO.  I drew a bottle of BOOze.

I cheated with this one.  I had this drawing of the orchid in pencil and I inked it with a Micron Pigma intending to go back and add color, but I think I would rather color it with pencil instead of ink so that will wait until another time.

Not exactly pointillism - is there such a thing as dashism?

And this is just silliness - I found some new gel pens at the $Tree.  There are four of them in the set each with three different colored inks.  I think you can see the variegations in the colors in spirals.  The spaces were filled with black marker.

Inktober will be over soon.

Have a Drink on Me

The last two weeks of school are crazy busy - I've said that before, I know.  After completing the craziness of preparing for what we call Move-Up Day, I would have liked to celebrate with some of my colleagues, but since I don't drink I teased that I would just go home and eat chocolate and get fat(ter).    No chocolate in the house, but I did have these candies and a stamp that I thought would fit a little project I had in mind to share with them.

The beverage stamp comes from the set Slice of Life, which I stamped in Basic Gray ink and colored with my SU markers, using pearl shimmer paint for the whipped cream.  The sentiment I stamped with my Just-Rite stamper.  I recently purchased a Martha Stewart stamp set that you could make phrases with only because I had a coupon and was that a mistake.  If you need to create a sentiment of your own and don't want to rely on a printer, check out the Just-Rite stamps (I can't link it here).  The background on the die cut box is a stamp from Sweet Summer just stamped in VersaMark ink on the Pear Pizzazz box.  The scalloped border is in Peach Parfait.

Inside the box are various drink flavored candies and mixes.  The round ones are rootbeer flavored.  So you can see, they did have more than one drink on me!

Reunion Favors - For Ibby

Here are some favors I made for the daughter of a friend who works in our sister school. Mary's daughter Ibby has just been through one of the most challenging years of her young life. She had a bone marrow transplant several months ago and has moved back home to continue her recuperation period. Ibby is a graduate of Princeton University and this weekend is the big "reunion" weekend there. Unfortunately, Ibby still has to avoid large crowds so...... they decided to have some of the crowd come to her. She is having some friends over and mom Mary asked me to come up with some cute favors that the girls could share.

My stash of orange and black is plentiful as both my children graduated, not from Princeton but from Somerville High School and SHS's colors are also orange and black. Coming up with a tiger (the PU mascot) was a little harder. I used the leopard head from the Zoofari set, stamped it in black on Pumpkin Pie cs and added the black stripes and the white highlights. It's not as vicious looking as the real mascot, but I think he does the job.

This tic tac holder is really easy to make - you can find the tutorial here

After cutting and scoring the black cs, I added the pumpkin pie dsp with the argyle pattern. The tiger is layered over the watercolored daisy from Touch of Nature, pumpkin pie and whisper white circles and a black scallop. I tied a little knot of black gingham on the metallic cord.

Inside I used the stamp from the Time Well Spent hostess set. I think it says it all. The tic tacs are stuck on with a strip of red sticky tape.

Mary came to pick them up at school at lunchtime today - she loved them. I hope the girls will too! And...... Ibby - continue to be your wonderful self!!!!
