Scribble Picnic - Say Goodbye to Autumn

Well, our Scribble Picnic theme for this fortnight is GOODBYE AUTUMN and I think we have.  At least here in New Jersey.  We've already had our first snow the week before Thanksgiving and it was an early Thanksgiving at that.  So my piece below is a little after-the-fact.

We caught a little of what was left of the color on the way to Delaware for Thanksgiving dinner at our daughter's house.  We had made that trip a few weeks earlier and the colors were so intense and beautiful the time of day that we were traveling.  I do think the angle of the sun during the fall really highlights the show of color.

That same night on the way home we played tag with the full moon.

Flipping back to the day of the snow - we had an early dismissal at school and when I got home the birds were all taking their turns at the bird feeders.  I happened to catch this bluebird as it was waiting it's turn.

Time to check out who else joined the picnic this week.  If you'd care to jump in, our theme due in two weeks is "A Few of My Favorite Things".  Sounds like fun, doesn't it!

  1. Lorraine,

Furtastic take on the SP prompt! White is certainly the next color for most northern states. We don't get much of the white fluff in the Tennessee Valley but the Smoky's sure do. I think they had to close the 441 that runs across the mountain from Gatlingburg to Cherokee because of snow/ice recently. The weekend before Thanksgiving, we drove to my folks' house in southwestern Virginia. East River Mountain was frosted with white. It was beautiful. I love the moon capture. Did you capture this with your cell phone? Good shot! Bluebird? I figured they migrate to warmer climates, do they not? I'm not a bird person. Have a good day!

    1. Thanks Cathy. I planned a little ahead on this trip and brought my good camera with me. But it wasn't any easier trying to take pictures with the car moving! The bluebirds overwinter here in the woods wherever they can find shelter. We have a brooding box but we think they prefer something more natural.

  4. Fun scribble and picture to match. I hope you don't get too much white too soon, though! Love the moon photo, it's fabulous.
