Scribble Picnic - LET'S DANCE

Our Scribble Picnic theme this week is LET'S DANCE and as I was brainstorming (something I probably shouldn't do when I'm not feeling 100%) I decided I wanted to draw some kind of animal dancing.  So going through a list of animals in my head - as foggy as it was - I remembered Dancing Bear from Captain Kangaroo.  And then I saw that today is World Ballet Day which was very serendipitous because as I was searching I came up with an an actual picture of Dancing Bear and a ballerina.

Looking at this, I have to say that that Dancing Bear costume from back in the 60's was really cartoonish and when I finished my illustration below, I was thinking that my bear probably would rather have had my ballerina doing an arabesque 😉 which might account for the look of surprise on his face.  Ah, well, too late to go back to the drawing board so to speak.

I knew I didn't have the flu, but I finally went to the doctor and I do have a sinus and ear infection. Thanks for all your well wishes last week - I have a good antibiotic now and should be more myself by the weekend (I hope, I hope, I hope).

Sounds like, with this theme we're going to have a lot of fun at the picnic this week.  Won't you join me in checking it all out - just click here.  And should you wish to join the fun next week, the theme is MUSHY which I'm guessing could have a lot to do with Valentine's Day!

    1. Thanks Christine. I'm finding it takes longer getting over things the older I get.

  3. Oh my, Captain Kangaroo ... what a hoot. I love this especially because I spent many hours in front of the TV watching the Captain and gang because they were favorites of my kids. Those were the days when things were simple and fun. What a nice job you did on recreating this picture. And, OMG, Valentines and Mushy ... it hadn't even occurred to me, Ha! What a delight you are ...

  4. I love how your mind works :) I used to watch Captain Kangaroo too :) Your ballerina is just lovely, I love the tutu and the slippers!!! :) I'm so glad you are feeling better! I was afraid of an ear infection lately, but luckily it went away after a few treatments of mineral oil...probably just a little build up in there, I need to stop using Qtips!!! :)

  5. Adorable drawing - but I did giggle when I noticed that it looks as tho' the ballerina is kicking him somewhere where it hurts. Could explain the expression on his face! Hope you're feeling better!!

  6. Oh what a cute idea and yes, I even recall Captain Kangaroo which I saw a few times way very little and visiting America to see my father.

I love how you;be colored this in. Glad the ballerina’s foot isn;t lower or poor old bear might not be standing so proud. :) Wonderful job, esp considering you are under the weather here. I do hope that by now you are well on the mends!

And yes, MUSHY could well have a lot to do with valentines but for those who hate the pseudo holiday, I suppose one could always do mushy peas or such instead. :) Can’t wait to see what you do there.

Yes, this picnic wore me out with all the dancing so I am only now getting back on the dance floor. Clearly I’m as out of shape as the hog I drew. Hahahhah
