April Fool's Day - My Big Fat Card Boo Boo Blog Hop

Darnell at djkardkreations is hosting a blog hop today featuring cards that might have made you feel like an April Fool because of a boo boo you made creating it.  Goodness knows that mistakes have been made and cards have been discarded, but there was this one...............

It wasn't an ugly card.  I like the colors.  The problem was that this was intended to be used as a sympathy card.  And I was going to use it that way until I started fixating on those three punched shapes......... lined up in a row........... side-by-side............. just like..................... headstones!  Looking back on my blog post, my daughter agreed with me (and so did one of my commenters).  Yeah - who would send something that looked like a cemetery as a sympathy card!  I think it's still in my box of cards - just can't get past those headstones..... for any occasion.

  1. Oh that's funny! I didn't catch the 'headstones' until you mentioned it! It's a pretty card, but I totally get why it'll stay in your stash... I've got those 'stay in the stash' cards too! Great card for the hop! Bev

  5. That's too bad, Lorraine. I think it's pretty, but I totally understand. I get fixated on something and just can't get past it.

  7. Oh, my! I do see your point as they do look like headstones. But if you sent it for another occasion it would work I would think.

  8. Yeah, I'd have to rethink the sympathy theme, too! Otherwise, it's a pretty card. Great for the BooBoo Hop, though!

  9. I thought your card was perfect and then I read on. Such a great catch! Yes, sympathy cards are tricky for sure. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Lorraine, your card really is pretty, and I do think it makes for a wonderful sympathy card, based on the pretty colours and images. But when you mentioned the 'headstones'..okay, I confess, I laughed. Out loud! A fabulous *oopsie* indeed...

  13. Well, Lorraine, it's a VERY pretty card, but I got what you thought was a boo-boo. Maybe you can restamp another sentiment selection, and still send the card for another occasion. Be a shame to waste it...Enjoyed reading your post, just became your newest follower, and Happy A/F Day. TFS

  14. Ooooh, no! When I got to the text and read that you intended this very pretty card for a sympathy card, I immediately saw headstones and thought, "That's so wrong!" Haha! This is a fantastic April Fool Boo Boo Card, Lorraine!! (But don't NOT send it to a friend ~ put a bold HAPPY BIRTHDAY sediment inside and the "headstones" become sweet flower window boxes to the eye! Honest!) Thank you so much for playing in my first BFCBB Hop!! Happy April Fool's Day!! Hugs, Darnell

  15. Just dropped by from Darnell's because your card was so pretty I had to see the boo boo and alas you are absolutely right, it's pretty and I love the colors but once you see the "headstones".....you can't not see them lol

  16. Ohhh goodness you made me laugh, as soon as you said it, I too could see it. Wonderful card, to hold onto.

  17. Hahahahahahaha!!! EXACTLY like something I would do! Oh, my....I am lol at this one!! Such pretty colors and flowers, but I have to agree that it might not be the best for a sympathy card!!! Thanks for the giggles!

  18. A beautiful card. Now you point out the boo boo I see why you have it in your stash - couldn't get past that. Thanks for making me laugh with you :)

  19. I have laughed the hardest at this card....more than all of them put together...

  20. Oh, no! The brown earthy colour behind and the green grassy colour only reinforce the gravestone look! But it's such a pretty card, I agree with Darnell, you should add a HB sentiment panel and, ahem, give it a new lease of life!

  21. I love the colors of this card too and I love the card. I didn't "see" the headstones until you told us and now that's all I see. lol Funny how stuff like this works. No, it wouldn't have been a good sympathy card although I doubt that the person receiving would have "saw" headstones. I hope you use it for a "think of you" card or something else because it is to pretty not to use. Hugs, Brenda

  22. This really made me laugh out loud - such a beautiful card, but now you've mentioned the headstones I can see that it would be an absolute no-no for a sympathy card

  23. OMG, they DO remind me of headstones! LOL Thank goodness you didn't mail this one, because if I received it as a sympathy card, I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry! LOL It really is a pretty card in itself, but absolutely inappropriate for a sympathy greeting! TFS (LOL)

  24. A great card - I thought it was so pretty until you mentioned headstones and that's all I can see now! Well done on winning Darnell's prize too.

  25. Oh dear, they do look like headstones, don't they?
Now that you can only see those pretty tags as headstones, I bet you cannot even make it into a birthday card for a good friend. You wouldn't want them to think you want them dead. Thanks for giving us all a good laugh. I know I'll be thinking of you if ever I decide to place three tags in a row.

  26. I do not see tombstones. But it can be seen from the fact that the Polish cemeteries look different. Each tomb is different. For me, your card is beautiful.

  28. Congrats on your big win...this is one I missed, though I don't know how. I'm sitting here with tears running down my cheeks, and not from sadness. I know you shouldn't laugh at a sympathy card but, can't help it...this is too hilarious.

  29. Congrats on your win! (with this actually very pretty card!) Your comments made me laugh out loud...only because it's something I can see myself doing...

  30. Oh my goodness yes thats exactly what they look like. Thanks for sharing and I know i shouldn't laugh either but I did

  31. Congrats on your win. It was a nice card BUT not for a sympathy and I started thinking about the headstones and had a good laugh.

  32. Congrats on your win! I couldn't see what was wrong with your card till you mentioned headstones - still chuckling!

  33. Headstones, how funny! Did not occur to me until you mentioned it! Found it a bit too cheerful for a sympathy card, but you can rescue it and add something to that sentiment to make it an any occasion card..
