Scribble Picnic - CRUNCHY

CRUNCHY - the sound of biting into many things.  In this case, it is the sound made by the foot of the Chee-toe monster whose toes and feet resemble (and taste like) those infamous crunchy Cheetos snacks which is how, of course, he got his name.

So I was going to bring something CRUNCHY to the picnic this week.   And I did find a recipe for Cheetos cookies which are supposed to taste like a sugar cookie with a sweet cheesy bite.  But I held back for a few reasons:  1) the recipe is in grams (yes I know I can convert it but did I really want to go through the math?), 2) if I bought a bag and did not use them all, who would wind up eating them (someone who thinks he resembles Tweedledum lately), and 3) who would eat them (because although I would definitely try them, I'm not in work this week so there would be no one to share them with as HWNSNBP is not a sweet eater).  Then again, I could have mailed them to the PICNICKERS but I don't have any addresses.  So you have the link to the recipe to try for yourselves.

And now, it's time to see what other CRUNCHY things are going to be shared at the Scribble Picnic this week.  You can check it out by clicking here.  And with the 4th of July being next week, we have a week off and will resume in two weeks with the theme of STARS.

  1. I love this Lorraine, it's so cute! Yeah...grams? Nah...who needs to do that kind of math, it's summer now lol! I have a very unhealthy love for Cheetos...anything that has that colour can't be good for you though, I avoid them like the plague but every time I'm down the chip aisle, my mouth starts to water! :)

    1. Thanks Rain. We allow ourselves to buy them once a year for our summer crabbing trip. It's become a tradition of sorts.

  2. I think this is so clever and imaginative - I'd have found Crunchy to be a very hard prompt. I think of it as a sound or texture, without much visual association at all - apart from Crunchie bars, which are, in case you don't have them under that name, the honeycomb crunch that you get when you add bicarbonate of soda to a hot sugar syrup, coated in chocolate.

    1. That sounds like a Butterfinger. And coincidentally they're the same color on the inside as Cheetos.

  4. Please excuse me if you get two comments from me - there was a hiccup and I think the first one disappeared...maybe. Or then again, maybe not! Anyway - as I was saying - what fun! I wouldn't be converting the recipe either - too much math to suit me!

  6. I have to chuckle at your little write up here, dear Lorraine. Too funny. Now, is there really some fictional Chee-toe monster? how funny too that we both had the same sort of idea there. Well, I never! :) Thank you so much. And yes, jsut as well you didn't make those treats but you know, if you have a smart phone, you can ask it to convert the grams instantly--not looking up or calculating. :)

  7. I'm not aware of any real fictional Chee-toe monster. Monsters aren't usually my cup of tea. I was just brainstorming crunchy things and what I might be able to draw and well, this was it. My smart phone must be very stupid because she keeps telling me that grams and cups are not compatible. We have a love/hate relationship. I love to hate her sometimes.

    1. I hear you. I usually do too. Did you know there's a word for a cheese lover - turophile. That popped up in my Pinterest feed, only way I knew.
