Scribble Picnic - GIFT WRAP

Our Scribble Picnic theme for this week is GIFT WRAP.  What came to mind was the song from The Sound of Music "My Favorite Things".  I love brown paper packages tied up with string myself.  So that's what I drew...... over, and over, and over.  So basically, my sheet of graph paper can now be used as a sheet, albeit small, of gift wrap.

(Oh, and look at that.  Of course the close-up shot I choose to use is missing a bow! What are the odds?)

Lot's of packages...... simply gift-wrapped and tied up with string.

Time to check out what the other Picnickers have brought to the picnic this week.  Click here.

  1. I love your interpretation Lorraine, we were both thinking brown paper packages tied up with string. The Sound of Music is one of my favourite movies since I was a girl.

    1. I loved your painting with that great little tree tied on. We love The Sound of Music also. Have you ever been to a sing-a-long performance. I went with a friend once and it was so much fun and no one cared if you couldn't sing!

    2. I haven't been to a sing-a-long but I did go to a theatre production of the movie and it was good.

    1. Thanks Rain. It took a little bit of time figuring out how to alternate them, but the repetition of it became relaxing. Sorry about the ear worm!

  3. Love your gift wrapping paper! That's what I was going to do too. Not exactly of course, but the "Gift Wrap" theme made me focus strictly on paper, rather than an actual gift/present/package as most everyone else did. Unfortunately I didn't start soon enough to get anything drawn or posted. Great job on that repetitive pattern!

    1. Thanks Jolene. I guess I couldn't decide whether to go with gift wrap or wrapped gift so I combined them. It really doesn't look like much in the pictures, but I will use it on something.

  4. Oh my Goodness ... I would never have thought of the Sound of Music on my own, but now you have songs streaming through my head and I am humming. What a lift :) I would love to be getting all of those brown paper packages in my mail ... but better yet, I would love to be able to send that many to people who need them. Great job on this Lorraine :)

    1. Sorry about the ear worm Andrea. I think you're like me - I'd rather be giving than receiving.

  5. That's quite funny, Lorraine, as I kept reading it as your close up missing a "bowl," reading the exclamation mark as an "l." ha. I kept thinking, what does a bowl have to do with it? Is it in the song? Lol..

Anyway, nice job on this and yes, wrapping paper for a wrapped xmas box would be novel, bows or not. I love that song btw.

Thank you so much. I love such packages too.

BTW, I have our new Scribble Picnic themes/prompts up on the side bar. I think you'll rather enjoy some of them and some will get the creative wheels spinning. We will take a break for next week since it's the day before America's Thanksgiving and many of our picnickers will be busy shopping and cooking big family meals and whatnot. See you on the 29th, I hope!

    1. You know, I wondered if anyone would've noticed had I not said anything so I figured - just laugh about it rather than get everything back out to take another picture. I should have done one of those "What's Missing?" posts. Happy you got a kick out of it. Thanks for the little break this week. It is much appreciated. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  6. Now you have me singing the song in my head. haha

Great take on the theme, Lorraine! You were a busy bee drawing so many gift boxes and writing to boot...that's dedication, girl!

    Have a lovely weekend ~ :)
