Did you ever get walnuts from it? Sad to lose them, if you did. Walnut certainly is a lovely wood to use for turning or veneer, so it would be lovely if it got a happier new life than just as fuel for burning. Looks like a real treasure trove in there - I know you love bottles! There used to be one particular area in the garden where I grew up where we'd often find fragments of patterned china, it was always such fun to turn them up. Glad it was able to provide you such joy for so many years :) Hopefully it's continuing life as furniture, warmth, smoke-flavoring, will be just as beautiful :) They truly are "giving trees!" :)Michelle Joy Weckslerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15071140824860593282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044301988472338053.post-69523061372729716942012-12-05T12:25:13.761-05:002012-12-05T12:25:13.761-05:00So sorry you lost the tree - but fun to find those...So sorry you lost the tree - but fun to find those treasures. My dad had a walnut tree that he used the wood from. I remember something about him having to plane it and bury it??? I can't remember exactly - but year's later my husband used some of the wood to make something. - it was beautiful wood when it was finished.
