Cheating Again

So let me ask this - If someone gives you a gift thanking you for all you've done, do you send a thank you card?  This is something I mull over twice a year when students and/or staff bring gifts into the office for us.  They are usually accompanied by a note of thanks from them.   But here's the thing, sometimes they're just left on my desk or delivered (like flowers or lunch or things like that), so I don't always see the person who gave the gift in person, so I think it's better to send thank you note so they know that you received the gift in the first place, and also to express my thanks.  Or maybe I'm just making more work for myself?  What do you think?

This end-of-the-school-year we received an abundance of edible gifts (which of course did wonders for my Weight Watcher's goals!), and truly they were appreciated during all the stress of the last week of school - the chocolate covered fruit especially.  Oh, and the soft pretzel platter.  And the bag of Lindor truffles.  And the lunch order from...... well needless to say, it was diet sabotage for sure!

I keep a running list on my desk so I don't forget anything that might have been eaten used before I get it home.  Then I can easily also look up all the addresses I'll need also.

So, anyhoo, to make it simple because of the number I needed, I started with another set of notecards that I got in the $1.50 bin at Mike's.  I just loved these colors and thought the pattern would make a very nice background that wouldn't need too much additional embellishing.

I used the Four Frames stamp set in Raspberry Ripple ink on Very Vanilla cs, added Thanks (from another set I don't remember right now) in Regal Rose and then punched that out with the Decorative Label punch.  Then I added to that a butterfly die cut using the Beautiful Wings embosslit.  (That gave me a whole bunch of butterflies in the other sizes for future use too!)

Popped the whole think up with some dimensionals and Ta Da! - another cheater card..... by the dozen.

  1. I wouldn't call it cheating - I'd call it efficient use of time and resources. After all, it would have cost more money and time to add a layer of DP to a blank card base - with the same nett result of a pretty base to display your thank-you.
i think I'd be with you on sending them, too - although I wonder if this is an old-fashioned attitude. Maybe not, at that - one of the girls in work (29) unfailingly gives me a thank-you card and a small something when I take dresses up for her, even though I always say I don't want anything.

  2. So cute!!!!! I love how you build on these printed cards to make something so special! As for the thank you for the thank you, I think I'd send them too. And, since those cards are so adorable, it might inspire someone to do some creating on their own!!! :)
