Punched Up Thank You Notes

I had a number - more than 30 - thank you notes to write after Christmas.  Some people have said that Thank You's are not necessary for all gifts.  Well, I like to thank the staff members and the students and their families for the gifts I receive for the holidays, even the smallest of them like a candy bar.  I had to draw the line at creating this number of cards from scratch though.

What I did was purchase some blank inside notecards from the $1.50 bins at Mike's and even got some on clearance for half that price.  I like to "punch up" the notecards with a little extra creativity.

This.......

Becomes this with a bird punched from silver glitter paper and brushed silver cardstock wings.

And this....................................

Becomes this with a red glitter paper punched flower with a brushed gold punched center.

I know it may not look like much of a difference in the pictures, but IRL they are so much prettier with those sparkly additions popped up.

There are so many blank notecards out there that you can really add that extra something too!  Hope you give it a try.

  2. I do this too and I got the idea from you from an earlier post. I call them semi-homemade. I love how it enhances the card. For Christmas, I bought 2 card sets (15 cards in each set) from Marshall's that I could alter. I actually created different sentiments with sticky tape on the back of them that could be added to the card for different occasions. I created boxes that would fit 5 cards/envelopes/sentiments, creating 5 sets. I used the extra card to decorate the outside of the boxes and labeled it 'Emergency Cards', for those occasions you need a card but can't get to the store. I gave them to family members and they loved them. Thanks for sharing all your great ideas. I wish I had your talent for creating but am happy I am good at casing and that you share so much of your talent with 'us casers'.

Now, I am making ornaments for next Christmas by enhancing a store bought snowflake with your little aluminum bird. Thanks so much. Thanks so much for helping me be more creative.

    Happy New Year!

  3. I still have to write my thank yous! And my son does, also. We are so behind; the Christmas tree is still up! But that's okay! Are you going to join my Valentine's swap?
